Murder attempt aborted

At a time when a village headman looks after the village administration, keeps smooth running of law and order, maintains peace and harmony in the village, the village headman of villages No.1 Borengajuli, No.2 Borengajuli and No.3 Borengajuli Mr. Beni Madhav Rajbanshi has played a role of a villain and attempted to murder his own brothers wife Mrs. Gita Rajbanshi and her daughters Miss Priya Rajbanshi and Pinky Rajbanshi. The three were seriously injured by sharp weapons and have been given first aid. On this regard the injured family lodged an FIR in the Dimakuchi police station but police have failed to arrest the culprit yet. The helpless family of Gita Rajbanshi have now been homeless and in this regard they have approached to the district judicial magistrate for further judicial action.

The mysterious death of an elephant calf casts no less spell of shadow in Udalguri on Monday. According to Ranjit Tanti, a wildlife activist, the calf, aged around 8, was found dead at a paddy field in Jorpukhuri village under Nonai forest range. Body of one Bikash Munda (18), an Adivasi youth was recovered Monday morning in No.1 sonajuli area under Dimakuchi, Udalguri. Police recovered the body from his uncle’s house and further investigations are on.   It has been reported that Bikash Munda son of Rantu Munda had gone to sleep at his uncle’s house adjacent to Nengta Bodo’s house who have fled from their residence since morning.
