Teak logs seized in BTAD

Despite stringent measures smuggling of forest resources refuses to die down. That too in Kokrajhar, the home district of forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma.

Local residents in Chitila seized many teak logs brought yo be smuggled outside on Friday wee hours.

According to information, acting on information, a group of alert ABMSU activists rushed to the spot where they came too see seven teak logs beside a river which were believed to have been brought to smuggle in Chitilaghop village.

ABMSU leaders along with the local residents informed the police who took these logs away to Kokrajhar police station.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition.
