Zaraguri GBF defeat Dhupdhara Academy 6-5

Zaraguri GBF, Gossaigaon defeated Dhupdhara Academy, Goalpara 6-5 via tie breaker shot in the inaugural match of the 19th Daoharu Mungkhlong Football Trophy being kicked off here today at Dotma HS School ground in Kokrajhar district. Both team played draw in the main game.Later,a tie breaker shot was conducted where Zaraguri beat Dhupdara. Tomorrow New Model Club,Udalguri will take on Barhoongkha AC,Kokrajhar . Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member for sports and youth welfare department inaugurated the opening match in the presence of huge spectator and publics. Altogether 12 teams are participating in the trophy, which included SE Rail, Jharkhand; Coochbehar Municipality Club,West Bengal; Salbagan FC, Gossaigaon; Bardwisikhla FC, Kachugaon; Barhoongkha AC, Kokrajhar; Bongaigaon XI, City Police, Guwahati; ASEB, Guwahati; New Model Club, Udalguri and Dotma DASA XI.

Final match would be played on October 23.

Winning team and runners up team would be awarded trophy along with cash 50,000 and trophy and cash 25,000 respectively.

Sangkharlal Brahma,president of the Organising Committee of the football trophy told that the football trophy has been organized every year in memory of Bodoland martyrs, who sacrifice their lives for the cause of separate Bodoland movement. This season 12 team from different states of the country and teams from Assam are participating.The final match of the trophy would be played on October 23, he said.

BTC executive member Rajib Brahma,Hemendra Nath Brahma,president of Assam Football Association were prominent attendees in the inaugural ceremony.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
