Alumini meet at Tangla College

Tangla College which is a reputed institution of higher education in Udalguri  district and BTC as a whole, organized a meet of its past pupils on Saturday providing an opportunity to alumnae to walk down memory lane, revisit their favourite campus haunts, meet teachers and link up with friends.


The Alumni meet was held in the conference hall of the college which  was presided over by Prof. Rabindra Kr. Sarmah, HOD, Dept. of English.


The  welcome speech addressing the alumni  was delivered by Dr. Prasen Daimary, Principal of Tangla College.


Prof. Chandan Barua, President, Tangla College Teachers' Unit also spoke on the ocassion.


An Alumni Association was also formed with Likhan Das as President, Lohang Khungur Basumatary , Ramani Sarma and Chandra Prova Dutta,  as Vice-Presidents ,Khagen Daimary as Secretary,  Drona Hazarika,Mrs. Purnima Bhuyan as  Asst. Secretaries and Joykanta Sarma as treasurer.

 


Earlier the purpose of the meeting was conveyed by Dr. Satyendra Kr. Sarmah, Coordinator, IQAC, The speakers of the meeting stressed on the need of working together for the future prosperity  of the institute as to make the institute one of the best and remarkable institution in Assam.

It may be mentioned that the well-qualified lecturers efforts have sought NAAC B grade affiliation to the institute  in 2004,as they left no stone unturned to impart quality education in all the three streams namely Arts,Science and Commerce thus raising the scholastic excellence of the college, fighting against economic hardship till the period of its provincialisation, the college fraternity in fact found the going uphill most of the time.

TANGLA: A  devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm. UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by  Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
