Traffic awareness cum drug abuse prevention programme

In a drive to spread awareness about traffic rules and prevention of drug abuse among students, a traffic awareness cum drug abuse prevention  programme was held at National Pioneer Jr. College, Tangla on Monday.   The programme was spearheaded  by Tangla Police Station Nagrik Committee. Presiding over the programme educationist Ashim Roy spoke on the need of holding such awareness programme on traffic rules and prevalent drug abuse among youths. Delivering his  maiden speech social worker Mahindra Bharali said "The riders who use roads as race track are cursed by pedestrians which brings ill fate to such riders."

Cautioning the students, he said, “A person who dies in an accident has nothing to lose further, but the entire family suffers lifelong.” ASP Udalguri Bedanta P. Barkakati ,SDPO Bhergaon P. Borah and Bonjar Daimari EM BTC  contributed to this programme and emphasised the need for wearing helmets,maintaining traffic rules and drug abuse prevention. 
In his lecture, ASP Bedanta P. Barkakati focused on the need for having a sustained traffic awareness programme as there is a constant increase in the number of road accidents. He further said" To minimise the communication gap between police and citizens Nagarik Committees have come into action." He urged the students not to ride vehicles without obtaining licence and use helmet and seatbelts while driving.

Speaking on the drug abuse trend he said "Myths have prevailed among students that consumption of drugs relieves stress and helps in concentration. But contrary to that the use of alcohol and drugs can negatively affect all aspects of a person’s life, impact their family, friends and community, and place an enormous burden on society. One of the most significant areas of risk with the use of alcohol and drugs is the connection between alcohol, drugs and crime " ,the bureacrat  added.


Bonjar Daimari EM BTC  said" I thanked the Nagrik Committee members for taking such awareness camp."


"We have observed students underage drive motorbikes and misbehave on duty police officials . Such behaviour is not tolerable." Daimari said.


Speaking on the drug abuse trend Daimari said" Anti-social activities such as gambling,drug abuse is addiction which is dangerous to individual and society at a whole." He exhorted students not to shatter their future by use of drugs. Students are nations future,he added.


Daimari also exhorted the students not to waste time  in social media and mobile. vote of thanks was conveyed by Mahindra Bharali.

Acleanliness drive was organized by Mula-Gabharu and Chamuapara-Balipara Jagrata Womens' Village Organisation (VO) at Chamuapara village on the outskirts of Tangla town on Sunday. In a major achievement,Udalguri police and Army in a joint operation nabbed two hardcore NDFB(S) cadres from Mazbat area of Udalguri on Friday. The duo are prime accused in the 2014 Adivasi killings in Sonitpur district. The apprehended have been identified as Jahan Mochshary @ Jiskel Mochsahary (30) and Jourwn Daimari(30) . There seems to be no breakthrough into the woman who has gone missing  from her residence at 1 No. Garuajhar near Panery in Udalguri on Monday. She is said to be Asha Begum, mother of a five year old son child who is still remaining clueless. Police have been investigating it acting on a complaint lodged by her  husband Hasmat Ali. The electricity negligence has taken thr life of yet another person triggering anger and protest across the state on Tuesday.
