AAKRSU blockade disrupts normalcy

 Railway services was saw disrupted for few hours on Monday due to rail blockade carried out by All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) at Bashan station in Chirang district, demanded early granting of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Koch Rajbongshi and creation of Kamatapur state

The students union in association with Koch Rajbongshi mahila samiti and Chilaray Sena took out rail blockade to put pressure government to solve the demands of the Koch Rajbongshi community in immediate manner. 

Thousands of activists from AKRSU and supporters joined hands with banner, placards in the blockade and shouted slogans demanding early solution to the demand and issues of the Koch Rajbongshi community

Several long distance and passenger trains were cancelled due to blockade, besides many trains have to stranded at various stations in the region. Down Rajdhani express, Indoor express halted at New Bongaigaon, Bangalore express(dn) at Bongaigaon, Gaya express at Goalpara, Dadar express (up) at Kokrajhar and Saraighat express and Okha express (up) was halted at New Coochbehar station respectively. 

The blockade was later lifted after 1pm following Golokganj MLA Ashini Sarkar Ray, who reached the blockade spot, representing Chief Minister promises for holding peace talk to be held on July 17 over the demands in Guwahati. 

Sarkar Ray said that BJP led alliance government at Dispur was stepping to solve demand and issues of the ethnic communities in the state. He said that government has been initiating with positive manner while bringing solve of the demands that made from Koch Rajbongshi and other communities. 

'State government has been holding peace talk with Koch Rajbongshi community organizations on July 17 over the demand and issues of the community', Sarkar Ray said. 

Pradip Ray, president of the AKRSU said that the government has been tactically delayed yo solve the problem and demands of the Koch Rajbongshi community. The blockade was organized to put pressure government to hold peace talk over the demand and issues of ST status granting and creation of Kamatapur state in immediate manner, he said. 

He has also that the student union and community organizations have lifted the blockade after seven hour beginning from 5am in the morning following Chief Minister assured for holding peace talk to be held on July 17 in Guwahati. He has urged the government to solve the demand and issues of the Koch Rajbongshi in immediate manner. 

'We will wait outcome of the peace talk to be held in Guwahati.If, talk's response do not reach in fruitful, more movement strategy will be initiated in coming days', Ray added.
