Food poisoning claims 1

A minor girl dead and dozen others fell ill after they consumed prasad served at a religious function in Udalguri district on Friday. The tragic incident took place in Kalaigaon area where a ten year old girl died early in the morning. At least 71 others have complained of stomach ace and vomitting hours after they consumed prasad.

The deceased was identified as Dipsikha Nath who died at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Talking to media, ADC DN Hazariaka said that the incident took place hours after they consumed prasad at the house of Harakanta Nath on Wednesday.

Death of wild elephant in Bhutiachang TE condoled

The suspected death of a 12-years-old wild elephant in the night of May 25 in Bhutiachag TE in Udalguri district has been condoled by nature lovers of the district. The dead elephant was found near a high voltage eletric post in between section 6B and 12B of the tea garden.According to information received the 8 feet tall elephant had been seen roaming in the locality along with other two wild elephants for a few days causing no harm to people. Although the primary evidence indicated electrocution as the cause of death but people engaged in conservation activities had different idea. Two NDFB cadres arrested at Khoirabari

Acting on a tip off, two NDFB cadres conducting extortion in village Khagrabari of Udalguri District on 16 Apr 2010, troops of 315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) from the Borengajuli Army Camp acted with speed and nabbed the two cadres namely Sukhram Boro of Naokata village alongwith an accomplice.
