Pediatric Surgeons xxxiv Conference to be held in Guwahati

The 34th Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (IAPS) is going to be held in Guwahati from 6th to 9th November 2008. The Department of Pediatric Surgery, Guwahati Medical College in association with the North East chapter of IAPS is going to host this conference.

Addressing a press conference at Hotel Royal Regency in Guwahati Dr. N C Bhattacharyya Head of Pediatrics Surgery GMCH informed media persons that about five hundred delegates from all over the country including several international faculties are expected to attend the mega event, besides from the neighbouring country. The Indian Association Pediatric Surgeons (IAPS) is a professional body consisting of nearly one thousand specialists in the field of pediatric surgery in India. The organization is fully dedicated to surgical care of the children. It also sets the post doctorate education in Pediatric Surgery in the country besides undertaking research in the field.

The annual conference of IAPS is going to held for the first time in the North Eastern region this year. The venue of the conference will be in the convention centre of Sri Manta Shankardev Kalashetra; Panjabari Guwahati.The conference will begin with continuing medical education program on 6th, in which number of guests lectures will be delivered by specialists of the field. A large number of overseas and national resource persons are likely to participate in the program. Besides, there will be orations, symposia and scientific presentations during the conference. Chief Minister of Assam is consented to inaugurate the conference on 6th Nov 2008.

'Guwahati is all set give exposure of its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty of the region in addition to traditional hospitality since most of the delegates will be visiting this part of region for the first time' informed Bhattacharyya. He added that it will be a good opportunity for the surgeons of the North Eastern states to interact with world's renown specialists in pediatric surgery and get acquainted with latest innovations and technological advancements in the field. It is expected that it will prove booster to surgeons of pediatrics of the region to perform their responsibilities with greater knowledge and interest.
