Forest dept to evict illegal encrochers

Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma has vowed that eviction would be carried out against illegally encroached along the forest land in the state including Saralpara,Ultapani forest areas in Kokrajhar district.

Minister Brahma participated at a plant sapling programme at Saralpara No.10 ride along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. She planted an Agroo sapling in the presence of AK Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest(PCCF) and forest officials to make green nature and balance in natural beauty in the region,which was organized by Bodoland Students Union,Kokrajhar district unit.

Brahma expressing concern over destruction of forest wealth and wildlife across the state said that it was unfortunate matter for the state because forest resources have been met destroyed. She has emphasizing forestation in the state said that citizen and forest staff should come forward to conserve forest wealth with stern measure to meet healthy and green forest environment.

Brahma said that eviction would be carried out against illegally encroached along the forest land and for this concern departmental officials were given instruction to take steps. She said that forest department has formed a committee with retired forest official in the chair along with two senior journalist to examine and counting to the preserve rhino horns in the state.

‘I think the committee will report in detail after completion their counting and examine process’, Brahma expresses her hopeful adding said that detail numbers of the preserve rhino horns would be figured in the state.

Brahma slammed Akhil Gogoi,KMSS leader said Gogoi’s remarks on rhino killing was not acceptable because our government reach only in three months since formation government. There were 47 rhinos were killed in previous Congress government,not in our government tenure. Rhino killing including floods in our three months tenure was 36 only,Gogoi’s allegation was baseless and unwanted for the state, Brahma said.

AK Singh,PCCF said tht forest department has been working to conserve forest wealth and wildlife so that natural beauty and conservation could be sustained.

Derhasat Brahma,president of Kokrajhar district unit BSU said that students union involving local publics in the area planted saplings to conserve forest.

‘We would plant saplings at an around 100 hectares of land along Saralpara forest area’, Derhasat said. He has appealed villager and citizens of the area to cooperate in the forestation to meet green and healthy natural resources conservation.

Sal logs seized

KOKRAJHAR: Forest department in Chirang, seized several numbers of tractors and trucks which were carrying illeglly felling sal timbers from Selekaguri, Shantipur, Deosri area under Runikata forest range on Thursday in Chirang district. The seized timbers are kept now at Runikata forest range office. Recently,forest department officials have seized a large number of smuggling timbers at Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district. The seized timbers  are valued at Rs.20. The forest department has been taking stern measures to check timber smuggling in the region and necessary deployments are made so far, said a senior forest official in BTAD.  

Journalism workshop in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Sangbadik Parishad, Assam of Kokrajhar district unit has decided to organise an workshop on journalism and a medical camp in October in Kokrajhar district. An executive meeting of the parishad was held on Thursday at Kokrajhar Press Club with Hantigiri Narzary, president of the Kokrajhar district unit of the parishad in the chair. The meeting discussed at length on the welfare and security of the journalists in the state and decided to work for the welfare and uplift of the media fraternities. Buyer-seller meet held

KOKRAJHAR: A buyer-seller meet was organized at Girls College auditorium hall in  Kokrajhar on Thursday. The meet was organized under the Assam agricultural business rural transportation (APART) by project ATMA Kokrajhar. The meet has emphasized to build a healthy co-relation among buyer and sellers while bringing fruitful business opportunities in the marketing field in BTAD region. Bangladeshi students take admission in Kokrajhar colleges

KOKRAJHAR: Six students from Bangladesh took admissin in various educational institutes in Kokrajhar. The students are from Khagrachhari ditsrict of Bangladesh and belong to the Bodo community. The students offered their Bathou prayer at Bathou Thansali and expressed happiness fro their forthcoming academic journey in Kokrajhar. One drowns at Hell River

A 17-year-old youth has died and another his colleague was rescued after drowning at Hell River at Fakiragram in Kokrajhar. The incident took place on Sunday evening at Dhopertal village along the Hell River. The duo hailed from Maligaon Guwahati visited their reltives house at Fakiragram. They went to the Hell River to have a bath in the afternoon and met the mishap. Local police and SDRF team rushed the spot after the incident recovered one body and another one rescued. Kokrajhar: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and Bodo community recalled contributions of Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and his contribution towards upliftmentof the Bodo literary and language; on his 19th death anniversary at his burial place at Chandamari in Kokrajhar on Monday. The anniversary was organized under the aegis of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) in association with Bineswar Brahma Charitable Trust to mark the occasion.
