Pramila blames forrest officials for forest destruction

Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma slamming forest staffs in BTAD expresses her suspects that forest departmental staffs have been nexus with timber smuggler while destroying Sal trees in the region. Brahma seized a tractor laden Sal timbers at Amuguri area in Nayekgaon Forest Range under Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctury in Kokrajhar district on Monday.

Brahma alleged that forest department officials are not working actively,even though concern department authority instructed to take stern action against timber smuggling in the state. Brahma,on Monday seized a tractor in which timber mafias carrying Sal logs through Bahalpur-Choraikola Road thif after noon while she was going Guwahati from Kokrajhar.She along with Kokrajhar SP,Shyamal Prasad Saikia also raided the jungle area near Rubber park where more 10 pieces of Sal logs were also able recover to seize.Market values of the seized Sal timbers would be over 5 lakhs.

Brahma,revealed that Sal tress were destructed due to duty negligence of forest officials in the district as well region.Stern actions would be taken forest officials,who were found negligence of duty and responsibilities of the department, she said. She has urged forest staff of Nayekgaon Range to take bold initiative while protecting the timber smuggling so that Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary could be protected with natural beauti preservation.

Saikia said that police administartion was ready to protect the Sal trees in the area and extending help to forest department while protecting natural resources.

Many people from greater Chitila area in Fakiragram in Kojrajhar staged protest in front of the police outpost alleging  rape attempt by a local resident on a school girl. According to protestors, a student of the Chitila MV School was faced survived a rape attempt by the chowkidar of the school inside the school building. Sensation prevails in Kokrajhar following unidentified miscreants killed  a temple priest on Sunday. Hours after the incident police detained two persons in this connection. According to eye witness,a group of two-four unknown miscreants wearing black clothes entered the temple near Kokrajhar railway station and brutally muredered the priest in the wee hours.
