14 killed, 16 others injured in Kokrajhar firing
At least 14 peoples including a militant cadres killed and 16 others received serious injury into indiscriminately fired by NDFB-S militant today at Tinali market in Kokrajhar district. According to peoples at the market, assailants came on a tempo from Simba reason site towards bazaar and fired indiscriminately by 11.40pm where 14 peoples included a militant cadre was killed and 16 civilians received serious injury in the incident. Injures were immediately rushed to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital. The assailants wored black dresses when they came along the bazaar. An AK 56 riffle, 49 live round, a grenade and some objectionable materials recovered from death militant cadre on the spot.
ADGP LR Bishnoi told that NDFB-S was involved with attacked.It was unwanted incident in the district, said Bishnoi police administration will continue its operation against NDFB-S militant outfit. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary condemned the incident and demanded stern action against involved culprits.
Forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma, ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary, UPPL president UG Brahma, MLA Chandan Brahma, Rabiram Narzary, BPF party condemned incident and demanded strong action against situation.
Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, DGP Mukesh Sahay visited the spot and took stock about incident.
Sarma told that zero tolerance would be penetrated and thuft action would be initiated in the state. He also claimed that NDFB-S was involved with attacked, no doubt. 'More security deployment would be done from govt to tackle situation in the the region', Sarma added.
Sahay said 7 more security companies including three army colums have been sent to Kokrajhar after attacked.

Kokrajhar: UPPL chief Pramod Boro took oath as BTC Chief Executive Member along with 4 others as his executive member—2 from BJP and one from GSP on Monday.
Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah administered them oath of office and secrecy at a crowded rally at the Green Field in Kokrajhar where Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, a few of his cabinet ministers, state BJP president Ranjit Das and Tripura minister J Jamatiya.

Kokrajhar: BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary has urged BJP leadership to help his party retain BTC hours after his party fell short of numbers.

On the other hand resurgent UPPL has won 12 seats and is holding talks with BJP to form the council which got 9 seats. Congress and AIUDF could not open the account while Gana Sakti Party had to remain satisfied with just a single seat.

Kokrajhar: Around 6.9 voters in Kokrajhar district are exercise their franchise in the second phase of BTC polls on Friday. The district has 19 constituencies where 77 candidates are in the fray.

Amid tight security and COVID19 protocol, the voters in Chirang district are waiting in long queue in front of the polling booths from 7 in the morning.

KOKRAJHAR: Schools have reopened from Monday after six months in Kokrajhar, heart of BTAD administration. On the opening day, attendance of the students are seen very thin in the schools. Students are allowed to enter the schools after having NOC from parents, wearing masks and hands sanitized. Thermal checking was compulsory.
A strict initiative from health and education departments have been arranged in the school entry gate.
According to source, there are only 35 thermal scanner were used out of the required 93 in the schools across the district.
