ABSU observes anti terrorism day

All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has observed 20th anti terrorism day on 30th July at Jwhwlao Swambla Fwthar in Goibari near Basugaon in Chirang district.  The programme started with flag hoisting and floral tributes paid to Late Swambla Basumataray, former president of ABSU who was killed by terrorists on 30th July, 1996.  Pigeon was released as a mark of peace and a memorial lecture was held on the occasion which was chaired by Pramod Boro. Pramod Boro, President of ABSU said that “terrorism is an inhuman act by human being, stop it to protect humanity around the world”. “India is land of Mahatma Gandhi and it is for non violence, terrorism or any sort of violence is to be condemned in the country”. “ABSU has been believing and practising non violence since inception and we condemn all sort of terrorism as it’s against humanity , he added. He urged the government that there must be a space for dialogues and negotiations to stop armed conflicts in the region as counter insurgency and operations or killings shall not bring sustainable solutions .  “There are different forms of terrorism and it must be looked critically to bring solutions as it has spread around the world in different ways , people must be educated to combat terrorism”, said U G Brahma , former MP of Rajya Sabha. Replying to the media persons  when asked whether she got justice or not,  Mrs Bhanumati Basumatary wife of Late Swmbla Basumatary said that she is not asking for justice but she wants sustainable peace in the society with solution to present movement of ABSU.  There was a signature campaign to raise peoples voice against terrorism which signed by different individuals and representatives of various organizations.
