A herd of wild jumbos damaged the All Tea Tribes' Students' Association ATTSA) regional office at Garuajhar under Panery PS on Thursday pre-dawn and created havoc in the area. The rapid destruction of forests and construction of dwelling houses in the elephant corridor in the Indo-Bhutan border area has compelled the wild elephants to stray in human habitation in search of food resulting in casualties of human lives and properties. Sanjay Bag,President of ATTSA Garuajhar regional committee has urged the forest officials to take necessary steps to push back the wild herds to jungles. The student leader has also urged the concerned officials to pay the ex-gratia to the family members of the man-elephant conflict victims.
