ABSU, UPP submit memorandum

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and United People's Party (UPP) submitted memorandum in separate to the deputy commissioner, Kokrajhar in protest against prevailing situation arisen in the district which  took three lives in three separate places .

Premjit Narzary and  Nion Mushahary , president and general secretary of the Kokrajhar districtct  committee, ABSU said that the student's union  submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Kokrajhar District on demand of immediate arrest, prosecution and punishment of all the culprits who are involved in the recent killing of innocent people on the suspicion of witch craft practice, and political conspiracy and provide compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each victim families.

Ashinta Basumatary alias Ola, a BA 4th semester student of UN Brahma College, Kajalgaon in Chirang District went missing from his house ( East Maligaon, Bishmuri) since April 22 and his dead body  was recovered on buried condition in the presence of magistrate and police officials on 1st May from deep jungle nearby Badrampur village. Earlier, Ashinta’s mother Gaijrai was branded of being a witch five years back after the death of her husband and she was forced to leave her house. Since then she has been living at her parents house at Sulmari in  subdivision. On the other hand a man named Bishnu Boro (42) UPP worker was brutally killed by suspected miscreants on the ground of political conspiracy at Padmabil village under Serfanguri PS in Kokrajhar district on 1st May.

The All Bodo Students Union demanded arrests of the  culprits within 24 hours of the submission of this memorandum and if the police administration failed to do so the Union will called indefinite Kokrajhar district bandh. Further the Union also demand a high-level inquiry into the recent killing of innocent people in the name of witch craft practice, and political conspiracy and also demand an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to each victim families of witch hunting and political conspiracy and seek appropriate legal action to punish the culprits involved in the killing of such innocent people.

This repeated incident of killing of innocent persons in remote areas under Kokrajhar District has proven a condition of insecurity in entire district. So the Union also demand to strengthen the safety and security measure before and after the result of Assembly poll.

Sometimes, a planed murder by intentionally making an accident with vehicle has also been happening in the District. This is evident from the incidence of such nature where Chandrasing Basumatary of village Taigerguri Bishmuri was hit with a bike coming from opposite direction due to which Chndrasing Basumatary severely injured and succumbed to hospital, said the students union leaders.

The party strongly condemned the killing of innocent persons and a student, which was unfortunate for the society. The district administration should initiate stern action into the arisen situation, said Raimon Brahma and Buddadeve Mushahary, president and secretary of the Kokrajhar district unit UPP.
