Death anniversary of Rungsung Suisa on April 17

The R Suisa Trust Ukhrul is gearing to observe the 45th death anniversary of Rungsung Suisa, a prominent Naga political visionary of Ukhrul to be hosted by Somdal village on April 17. "We are going to observe in a grand manner the anniversary function in memory of late Rungsung Suisa who was an outstanding student, a seasoned politician, prophetic, and Godfearing man," said Dr Ngahorshai Luithui chairman R Suisa Trust in a news conference held at UDWJA office, Viewland on Friday.

Exhorting the life of the Naga leader as exemplary, Luithui asserted that Suisa lived his whole life contributing towards love, peace and fraternity not only in the Northeast but across India. "He developed a cordial relationship and brotherhood with the Meitei, Kuki and other Naga tribes of Manipur," related Luithui.

Suisa was loved and fondly called 'Uncle' by all communities, said Luithui adding that though Suisa is long gone, his footprints will live forever.
The Trust was instituted in 1993 to profess the legacy of the Naga leader, he said and advocated that the younger generation need to develop understanding of the leader and his philosophy and predictions many of which fulfillment are we witnessing today.
This year Somdal village, birthplace of Suisa, has offered to host the event commemorating the life of Suisa who passed away 45 years ago, said Trust secretary Wungkhayap Zimik.

We are expecting more than 1000 delegates from across the district covering 240 villages to converge at Somdal village, he exuded fervent hope.

In the poll-bound Ukhrul district, a northern district of Manipur, India, there appears to be hitherto little or no youth activism in the political and democratic process. After all, Ukhrul is one place where politics is traditionally considered a game only played by the middle aged and elders alike. This time around, it has, on the contrary, dawned on many intellectuals of the district that unless the youth are encouraged to take part and play active roles in the democratic process, which is considered a vehicle for change, the future looks bleak for the community. In line with the realization, the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL-Tangkhul Youth Council) organized a one day ...

For quite sometime, those who back Hopingson A Shimray and the NPF ticket aspirant himself have been claiming that the number of his supporters in the Phungyar assembly constituency has continued to grow over the last few months. As reported earlier, till the middle of October, a whooping 2200 supporters from the constituency have newly enrolled themselves as primary members in the Naga People's Front (NPF) to support Shimray in the ensuing Manipur legislative assembly elections. And while Shimray arduously propels the 'new-vision-for-the-people' mantra, it seems to make sense to assume that 'grassroots campaigning' to genuinely feel the pulses and concerns of the electorates has been...

Of late, there has been a good deal of talk in the Tangkhul film community as well as in social media about the ongoing shooting of the second feature film by the Meiphung Production, post box office success of its debut 'Kha Yurna Mataimei.' Well, 'Thotkha Mirin Khani' is the next film that is creating a wave of excitement already. Hopefully, the title itself is equally intriguing, isn't it? Loosely translated, it means 'two lives in one generation.' So the guesswork is what are the two lives and how that will be portrayed as a possibility. And convincingly at that!Come to think of it if the plot is based on real life situations and much of the essence of 'Thotkha Mirin Khani' --a family...
