Amidst the current financial stress due to recent demonetization, the 10th Exhibition cum Sales of NERCORMP/UDCRMS-IFAD Ukhrul drew to a close with a remarkable turnover of Rs. 25, 07, 810 here at TNL Ground on Friday.
Attending as chief guest at the closing ceremony held at 1 pm, Ukhrul DC Pradip Chandren observed that the public is currently reeling under acute financial constraints owing to shortage of currency notes in the wake of recent demonetization.
He, however, commended the NERCORMP Ukhrul for successfully organizing the mega event in the interest of the local enterprises and agricultural community despite the prevailing grim scenario.
DC Chandren along with NERCORMP Ukhrul project manager Tychicus Vashum distributed prizes and citations to first position holder SHOMI Narm-G Cluster Association which achieved the highest turnover of Rs. 4, 39, 220 and second and third position holders KAMTHA Narm-G Cluster Association and CHIRMI SHG Zonal Federation which scored a turnover of Rs. 1, 92, 000 and Rs. 1, 66, 910 respectively.
In his speech, Tychicus Vashum deeply acknowledged the cooperation of all participants and public in successful culmination of the exhibition and also expressed gratitude to all the buyers for their support.
Ningreingam Vincent KH BDO NERCORMP Ukhrul exuded the hope of continuing the NERCORMP initiative in the ensuing years, and urged the public to extend the same cooperation in the interest of promoting the agriculture community in the district.
Even as the stalls were folding up, a slew of buyers continued to throng the exhibition venue in a bid to do their last minute shopping of the remaining stocks.
Altogether 28 Narm-G cluster associations, SHG village and zonal federations and others participated in the three day exhibition event. Myriad of indigenous products including horticultural products, locally processed eatable items and a range of traditional handicrafts, handloom textiles & pottery and jewellery and others were showcased during the event.
