Social Analysis Workshop

A group of social work students of Assam Don Bosco University are having “an on-demand workshop on social analysis,” from 1^st to 3^rd April.
The workshop is based on a new book entitled “Social Analysis: A Guide for Social Workers” second book published by Social Work assistant professor Dr Lukose Jacob of ADBU School of Social Sciences.

Dr Lukose’s first book was entitled: “Inclusive Development : A Human Rights approach.” There are 53 MSW 4^th semester students participating at the three day intense workshop.
In ‘Social Analysis: a Guide for Social Workers’, Dr Lukose brings to bear his vast experience in the field of social work and in academics to make social analysis and its methods understandable to common people and to the students of social work. The focus of the book the author says, “is on the need for a structural analysis of society to identify the underlying structural causes for the poverty and marginalization which dog about 50% of our people.”

The book analyses at great depth the mechanisms operating in our society and the world at large. The book further provides the right tools to uncover the various structures of domination and exploitation embedded in society; and prods the reader to contribute to the building of a more just society where love, truth, freedom, justice and equality play a much greater part than today.
Educators, lawmakers, administrators, developers and others interested in resolving social problems, and social activists, social work Institutions and NGOs and government organizations devoted to promoting development, will find in this volume an invaluable tool.

Dr Lukose has over 30 years of field experience heading the Departments of Programme Support Services, Human & Institutional Development Services, Thematic, Quality Management and Capacity Building at Caritas India New Delhi. 

The 3-day Social Analysis workshop will be followed by 5-day Project Cycle Management workshop from 4^th to 8th April, for the same group of students.
