Mizo Tawng Made Easy released at press club

A book penned by an Assamese technocrat turned writer AK Pathak was released at Guwahati Press Club on 28 January 2016. Eminent Assamese author and former Asom Sahitya Sabha president LN Bora released the book titled Mizo Tawng Made Easy, where the writer made an effort to make Mizo language understandable for a non-Mizo reader. Bora also pointed out that the primary language of Mizoram should be announced as a modern Indian language.

Anchored by Ms Alaka, the meeting was also addressed by writer Pu Pathak AK, journalist Nava Thakuria, resident commissioner of Mizoram House in Guwahati Lian Sang Zuala Chhakchhuak with the field secretary Rev H Lalhming Mawia.

Bihar governor Ram Nath Kavind is preparing to succeed Pranab Mukherjee a day after the NDA presidential candidate won the polls defeating the united opposition candidate Meira Kumar on Thursday. A special assembly session in Nagaland is set to confirm the strength of TR Zeliang who took oath as chief minister at the end of a high voltage political drama in the north eastern state. The Naga Peoples’ Front, which expelled Zeliang has already issued a single lune whip not to support the former leader who poached a section of legislators to resume as the chief minister a couple of months later.  Governor PB Acharya will administer oath to the new cabinet ministers on Friday evening after clearing the floor test.

The new elected President of India would be formally announced on Thursday as the counting of votes is going on. According to the returning officer, the ballots of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are counting and then ballots from the states would be taken for counting. According to the Election Commission, the results would be available at 5 in the evening before a formal announcement. NDA have favoured Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind while UPA, Left, Trinamool Congress, AAP have voted for former Lok Sabha Speaker and Congress leader Meira Kumar.

A simmering internal feud triggered a shoot out at a religious function in Guwahati where one person died on Sunday. The sensational shoot out took place in the bread day light at a Shikh temple in Beltola where a person sprayed several rounds of bullets on a fellow from a point blank range.
