The students were seen coming out in large number and voting enthusiastically. “The students have been gathering since morning in the college compound to cast their votes and this is the first time that the college has witnessed such a huge voter turnout”, an election official observing the entire election process said. It may be mentioned that a huge number of eligible voters were first time voters.

“I have been waiting for this day as this is the first time that I will be casting my vote”, J. Borgoyary, a first time voter and a student of H.S. first year said happily. When asked to another student, M. Sen, on what basis she would vote, she said, “I would vote on the basis of the candidate’s personality and his capability to work for the students’ welfare”.

It may be mentioned that the casting of votes continued till late afternoon. The counting of votes started immediately as soon as the voting stopped and the results were declared in the evening, the same day. The top post of the Union Body, General Secretary, was clinched by Gwmsa Basumatary (securing 155 votes), defeating his nearest rival , Hathorki Mohilary, by a margin of 13 votes.

Thanks for this news as well as for the information of about new union body members. I appreciate for your work and also for the working of all the members who brought the poll go well. But, in the morning when I and my friend Bidyut reach the college, college authority told that we the 6th semester students can't cast our vote. I don't know if they allow it after we leave the college as we are said that neither we can caste our vote nor there'll be any classes that day. But this is very unfavourable as we the 6th semester students are also a part of this college and if authority allowed us afterwards then it's not good as we had to leave by saying we can't caste our votes. And also at first 4th semester students were too not allowed to caste their votes but after their majority and complains they also allowed to vote. So, if there's any vote going then all must be allowed to caste their votes. COllege authority must understood this. Thank you.
