Adhyasradhya of Chino Basumatary performed

The Adhyasradhya of senior journalist, owner  and editor of Bodo daily newspaper ‘Bodosa’ late Chino Basumatary was performed at his Home at Bhaulaguri Kashikotra on Sunday in Chirang district.

Basumatary breathed his last on December 29(2015) at a private hospital in Guwahati after prolong illness.

A memorial souvenir with title of Chino Basumatary: Jiu Sakhi was also brought out on the occasion to recall contribution of late Basumatary towards Bodo journalism.

Former minister and MP Luis Islary, released the souvenir and addressed the occasion recalling Chino,who had dedicated his whole life to the career of Bodo daily newspaper publication and editorship.

Retired Commissioner of WPT & BC, Govt of Assam Jiten Borgoyary, Dr Kameswar Brahma,president of Bodo sahitya sabha, Pramila Rani Brahma,MLA, writer Riju Kumar Brahma, Rabisangkhar Borgoyary, Hareswar Basumatary,Maoti Brahma Hazoary,BTC MCLA,Rupali Basumatary,widow were prominent attendees on the occasion.

Chino Basumatary, was former two-time president of All Assam Small Newspaper  Association, president of Press Owner Association, Kokrajhar, Trustee of Media Trust, Assam and a member of Northeast Newspaper society in his life. He was also a radio artist and acted in Bodo films.

Basumatary was born on April 13, 1954 at Kashikotra Bhaulaguri village in Chirang district, a recipient of Dr Ambedkar Fellowship award-2005, conferred by Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi in recognition of the commendable literary, social and cultural services.

Noted Bodo singer, lyric and social worker Phanindra Nath Brahma (Phani Serja) died at a private hospital in Siliguri after prolong illness on Friday. He was 71. Brahma was suffering from diabetes, knee injury and was admitted to the hospital.  Brahma was a retired teacher and was associated with various social activities. He had presented first violin promotion music at the Bodo programme in All India Radio (AIR), Guwahati. Security forces on Thursday vowed to firmly deal with the militants hiding in Kokrajahar district.
