5 AANLA cadres arrested

Five All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres, who were engaged in extortion and miscreant activities for a long time in various parts of Assam-Nagaland border, were arrested by the security personnel. According to Police sources in the night of 20th June a joint team of Assam Police and 142 Battalion of C.R.P.F., headed by S.D.P.O. Dhansiri conducted a search operation in the Doldoli area of Merapani near Assam-Nagaland border. During the search operation five cadres of AANLA were arrested. The arrested cadres were Bobai Kurmi (20), Bimal Kurmi (19), Mahesh Kurmi (19), Sanjib Kurmi (19) and Kumud Langa (25). The police also recovered a money collecting pad, some letters demanding money and two mobile handsets from the arrested persons.

Compared to other States of India, why are the youths of North-East India so very much into 'Easy Money'? Is it because the older generation is very corrupt too? A Seminar or debate can be held on this topic...it should include students, surrendered militants, govt officials et al in the discussion.

Firing at Tetelitol, 2 CRPF jawans dies

In a bizzare incident involving CRPF, one CRPF jawan was killed and another was critically injred when an exchange of fire took place between themselves. The incident took place at around 8.00 PM in the Tetelitol CRPF Check Point at Golagat. One Ruganeh Singh from Rajasthan was killed on the spot and Venkatesh Barlu from Andra Pradesh was critically injured in the incident. The other jawan succumbed to injuries later.

Golaghat Bezbaruah school to mark its 125 years

The Golaghat Govt. Bezbaruah Boys Higher Secondary School, the oldest premier educational institute of Golaghat District, will complete 125th years of its glorious existence next year. The school was established in the year 1886. Economic blockade has brought life to a standstill in Nagaland

The ongoing economic blockade in protest against the atrocities of Nagaland Police over the students of Assam has reached its third day today. Indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland

The All Assam Students Union has begun indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland. The blockade has been called in protest against the firing and assault by Nagaland police in Golaghat on Wednesday where atleast 22 people were injured. Street play against atrocities on women

In order to create awareness among the public about the increasing incidents of atrocities on women, “Sanmilita Nari Adhikar Suraksha Mancha” has started a two month long mass awareness programme in some districts of upper Assam.
