Five All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres, who were engaged in extortion and miscreant activities for a long time in various parts of Assam-Nagaland border, were arrested by the security personnel. According to Police sources in the night of 20th June a joint team of Assam Police and 142 Battalion of C.R.P.F., headed by S.D.P.O. Dhansiri conducted a search operation in the Doldoli area of Merapani near Assam-Nagaland border. During the search operation five cadres of AANLA were arrested. The arrested cadres were Bobai Kurmi (20), Bimal Kurmi (19), Mahesh Kurmi (19), Sanjib Kurmi (19) and Kumud Langa (25). The police also recovered a money collecting pad, some letters demanding money and two mobile handsets from the arrested persons.
Today the town of Golaghat came to a stand still when nearly ten thousands people all ages marched to the town from Doyang Tengani region which is situated at a distance of 30 Kms from Golaghat town, bearing the scorching heat to attend a mass rally organized by KMSS (Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti).
