5 AANLA cadres arrested

Five All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres, who were engaged in extortion and miscreant activities for a long time in various parts of Assam-Nagaland border, were arrested by the security personnel. According to Police sources in the night of 20th June a joint team of Assam Police and 142 Battalion of C.R.P.F., headed by S.D.P.O. Dhansiri conducted a search operation in the Doldoli area of Merapani near Assam-Nagaland border. During the search operation five cadres of AANLA were arrested. The arrested cadres were Bobai Kurmi (20), Bimal Kurmi (19), Mahesh Kurmi (19), Sanjib Kurmi (19) and Kumud Langa (25). The police also recovered a money collecting pad, some letters demanding money and two mobile handsets from the arrested persons.

Compared to other States of India, why are the youths of North-East India so very much into 'Easy Money'? Is it because the older generation is very corrupt too? A Seminar or debate can be held on this topic...it should include students, surrendered militants, govt officials et al in the discussion.

Explosives recovered at Furkating Junction

Triggering panic among passengers of the Ledo-Guwahati Inter-city Express, Furkating GRP during a routine checking recovered a bag containing explosive that arrived at the Furkating Railway Station in Golaghat at 9.30 p.m. on Thursday. The cache of explosives included 3 nos of Gelatin Stick, 3 nos of Gelatin Gel, 2 electronic detonators, 2 non-electric detonators,9 nos of safety fuse and 500 gram of Amonium Nitrate. The explosives were kept in a reksin bag. While talking to Eastern Chronicle, NR Das, OC of Mariani GRP told that they have some inputs about the explosives being carried in the train. The matter was under investigation and none had been arrested so far.

Abandoned baby got tangled in legal hassle

The four month old baby found abandoned on 22 October on a railway track near Tiruwal village in Golaghat and had a miraculous escape even after four train crossing over the way has become the eye of the apple of the local villagers who discovered him. Two unidentified dead body recovered at Golaghat

An unidentified dead body of a young man of about 30 years of age was recovered from a railway track near Donbosco School in Golaghat today at around 6.30 am. The body was found wearing a white shirt and a brown trouser. On the other hand another dead body of an unidentified person, aged about 35 years, was found run over by a train on the railway track near Kamarbandha Railway Station at around 10.30 a.m. today. Nagaland police camp withdrawn from Merapani
