5 AANLA cadres arrested

Five All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres, who were engaged in extortion and miscreant activities for a long time in various parts of Assam-Nagaland border, were arrested by the security personnel. According to Police sources in the night of 20th June a joint team of Assam Police and 142 Battalion of C.R.P.F., headed by S.D.P.O. Dhansiri conducted a search operation in the Doldoli area of Merapani near Assam-Nagaland border. During the search operation five cadres of AANLA were arrested. The arrested cadres were Bobai Kurmi (20), Bimal Kurmi (19), Mahesh Kurmi (19), Sanjib Kurmi (19) and Kumud Langa (25). The police also recovered a money collecting pad, some letters demanding money and two mobile handsets from the arrested persons.

Compared to other States of India, why are the youths of North-East India so very much into 'Easy Money'? Is it because the older generation is very corrupt too? A Seminar or debate can be held on this topic...it should include students, surrendered militants, govt officials et al in the discussion.

In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, eight people were attacked by a leopard as the wild cat ambushed them in the section 16 of Radhabari Tea Estate under Numaligarh Beat Office of Golaghat District. A verbal quarrel between two petty traders at Naojan, along the Assam-Nagaland border took a grim turn when one of them named Ranjan Ali took out a .22 bore revolver and fired two rounds at Prasanta Bhuyan. Bhuyan received bullet injuries in his stomach and chin and undergoing treatment at Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital, Golaghat. His condition is stated to be serious. A forest guard of world famed Kaziranga National Park (KNP) has been critically injured in a rhino attack inside the park.
