An alleged infiltration of militants from Myanmar has forced the Chandel and Ukhrul district administrations in Manipur to imposed 144 CrPC within three km belt along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The round-the-clock vigilance is in place after the authorities got the inputs of the infiltration of disturbing elements from across the international border. The Chandal district magistrate Robert Singh Kshetrimayum in an order on October 15 said that 144 CrPC has been imposed acting on the inputs about infiltration from militant groups and illegal commodities.

Manipur: two cops suspended

IMPHAL: Manipur Home Department has on Thursday placed a sub-inspector and a constable under suspension in connection with a melee wherein several student members were brutally beaten up by cops during a protest here on Monday. Activists of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) were attempting to storm the Manipur BJP head office and Governor’s bungalow on July 16 demanding immediate sacking of Manipur University Vice Chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey. NIA to probe into missing arms case

Tripartite talks over district creation issue remains ‘inconclusive’

SENAPATI, Mar 23 (NENA): Tripartite talks involving the Centre, Manipur government and United Naga Council (UNC) to end the deadlock over creation of new districts remained “inconclusive.”  On Friday, talks were held at the DRDA conference hall, Senapati district headquarters from 11:25 till 2 pm.  It was agreed in the meeting to hold the next round of talks on April 27 next.
