Incentive to brilliant students in BTC

Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were  felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .

BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today. 

Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both  of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.

Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was   working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies. 

Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

Amid tight security in the run up to the Independence Day, security forces arrested two NDFB-S militants from Chirang district on Saturday.Identified as Philip Basumatary and Bipin Brahma, the Myanmar trained insurgents were caught during a combing operation from Amguri area in the wee hours.Police claimed to have seized a hand grenade and a pistol from their possession. 
Amid tight security Kokrajhar is gearing up for the Independence Day along with other parts of the country.SP Shyamal Saikia reviewed the overall security scenario with security forces and VDP members in Kokrajhar on Friday.Saikia said steps are on to maintain the law and order in the BTAD areas during the red letter day celebrations.He told that Police, Army, CRPF, SSB and other security agencies are on high alert in the district to prevent any disrupting forces in the run up to the Independence day.He said public spots, railway tracks are kept on regular checking and situation is prevailing in smooth and healthy.  
Bodoland University teachers on Friday staged strike in front of the varsity campus demanding an early panel to review their pay packages.Shouting slogans, the protesting teachers further demand a body to redress their grievances and measures to stop commercialization of higher education. A new political party has emerged nine months ahead of the assembly polls. Precisely, it is a conglomeration of various political and non political parties in Kokrajhar. Former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma headed as president of the newly formed United Peoples Party (UPP) which was formed today at Dotma in Kokrajhar in a special convention organised by PCDR in Kokrajhar. Rwngwra Narzary, chief coordinator of PCDR announced the names of the newly formed party where noted former Absu leader Pradip Kumar Daimary was selected as general secretary.The party has eyed equal distribution and progress of the society in coming days.

Kokrajhar police apprehended six linkmen of NDFB-S from Aflagaon area under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar district today. Police arrested the linkmen following case registered with Serfanguri PS numbering 77/15 for extending support hardcore Ndfb-s cadre Sankhang in the area for a kidnapping in subversive activities in the run up Independence day celebration. The arrested were produced to court and remanded for 5 days for police custody. They have been identified as Lukuram Basumatary, Boldi Basumatary, Rwmwi Basumatary, Chiranjit Basumatary, Bonus Kumar Brahma and Sudem Basumatary.
