Justice for the juveniles
The East Siang inspection–cum-advisory board had its first sitting in Pasighat chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Isha Khosla on Monday. Khosla suggested the officers for proper counseling and service delivery to the Juvenile in conflict with law(JCL) kept in the observation home. She said that there should be an arrangement and convergence not to hamper the studies of JCL who are studying in school while staying in the Observation Home for petty offences.
Superintendent Onyok Panyang gave detail reports about the functioning of the observation-cum-home apart from apprising the officers of the functions of Child Protection Society(DPCS) and other bodies like juvenile Justice Board(JJB),Child Welfare Committee(CWC),Special Juvenile Police Unit(SJPU) etc. which have been constituted as per protections of Arunachal Pradesh Juvenile Justice(Care&Protection of Children)Rules,2012.
Obuk Panor suggested a Resource Centre for JCL in the observation home where he would donate required books and other materials for the JCL. Later on, the team inspected the boys & girl dormitory, kitchen, dining hall, sentry room etc. They also interacted with the JCL staying in the Observation Home.

Five persons died and four others sustained serious injury when the vehicle carrying them skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday. The tragic accident took place in the wee hours in between Palizi and Ramda in West Kameng district where the vehicle carrying at least nine people was going to Seppa. Eyewitnesses told reporters that the vehicle was negotiating a sharp bend before it slipped into a deep gorge where five persons died on the spot. The Arunachal Pradesh government has refused to grant refugee status to the Bangladeshi Chakmas and Hajong people who migrated in 1964-69 and urged the Supreme Court to review its judgment.
