Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4
A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district.
Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country.
Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state.
Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

Security forces arrested four NDFB-S rebels along with arms from Kachugaon area in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.Police said based on inputs, an operation was carried out in which the four NDFB-S rebels, including the outfit Gossaigaon section commander were apprehended.The arrested persons are identified as Gossaigaon section commander Eshilash Narzary alias Gathia, Pinjit Basumatary, Bishop Narzary alias Tapdung and Darashar Uzir. A 7.65 mm pistol, 5 live rounds ammunition, 4 mobiles were recovered from them.
The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) along with rest of the state, the students union also observed sit-in-demonstration today at Swahid bedi in Kokrajhar reiterating the demand for constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people of the state.The union activists staged demonstration from 12 noon to 2 pm with banner,placards and demanded indigenous peoples of the state should be given constitutional safeguard and peoples should not be face any harassed,the students union added.
