23 nomination in Chirang

A total of 23 nominations from various parties and organisations filed nominations for seven constituencies in Chirang district both from Kajalgaon and Bijni sub-division today.

10 candidates from various parties and organisations filed nominations for three seats under Kajalgaon sub-division. In Kajalgaon constituency,Rwngwra Narzary(PCDR), Nirenjay Basumatary(BJP), Khanindra Brahma and Dilip Kr. Sarania(Ind) submitted their nomination papers. In Chirang Duar, backed Amarsing Brahma(PCDR), Sanjib Wary(Cong) and Phanindra Kaklary(BJP).In Chirang seat  Rakesh Brahma(Cong), Maoti Brahma Hazoary(PCDR) and Nabin Islary(Ind)  submitted their nomination papers.

Meanwhile,13 nominations from four constituencies under Bijni sub-division of Chirang district have also filed nomination papers.

Int'l Theatre Festival held in Kokrajhar

The Mwihur International Theatre Festival has ended in Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The seven-day festival took place at the Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari. Candidates from different parties files nomination

The United People’s Party(UPP) candidate  for Kokrajhar east Pratibha Brahma filed nomination papers to the Returing Officer at DC office in Kokrajhar on Monday. Brahma, was accompanied by senior party leader Rabiram Ujir,leaders from alliance partnar Congress party Ashok Kumar Borgoyary. With extending support to the United People's Party ahead scheduled Assam assembly election on April 11 next, Rafikul Sheik, vice president of Kokrajhar district committee of AIUDF joined in UPP at a party meeting at Fakiragram under Kokrajhar west LAC in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.  Sheik along with his party supporters joined the party in the presence of huge party supporters and extended supports to the party.  'His joined the UPP party will blow a setback to the AIUDF party', said a political analyst.   

NDFB-S ultra held

Security forces apprehend a NDFB(S) cadre from Basabil area under Gossaigaon PS on Sunday in Kokrajhar district. Based on information about the presence of the militant outfit cadres in the area, a joint team of police and army launched an operation where a listed cadre of Gossaigaon platoon of the NDFB(S) was arrested along with arms. He was identified as Sanjay Narzary of Borsabil village. A pistol, two round ammunition was recovered from him.

BPF leaves three more seats to BJP

The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has left three constituencies- Sorbhog, Rangia and Bhawanipur to the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), its ally party.
