Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4
A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district.
Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country.
Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state.
Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

A hardcore cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organisations(KLO) identified as Ajoy Barman alias Takla(26) of Tamulpur Darangapar in Baksa district was apprehended in a joint operation by army and police from Jaldoba area under Kazigaon police station of Kokrajhar district today.One 9 mm country made pistol, 5 live rounds ammunition, two 36 hand grenade, mobile hand set and one sim card were recovered from him. Sensation prevails in Kokrajhar following the recovery of a body on Thursday morning.Local residents in North Kashibari village spotted the ody from the Tarang River early in the morning sending sensation in the entire area.The body was on decomposed to be brought to kokrajhar for post mortem.
The functionings in Kokrajhar DRDA office came to a standstill on Wednesday when the employees staged dharna raising a set of demands. Three persons were received serious injured when a bike and scooty head on collision along the JD Road near Madan Mahan pharmacy this afternoon in Kokrajhar town.
