Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4

A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district. 

Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country. 

Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state

Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

Security forces claimed to have killed yet another NDFB(S) militant-responsible for the gory Adivasi carnage in December last year.Identified as Rinsar Narzary alias Gaitha, he was killed at an encounter at Amteka area in Chirang district on Tuesday wee hours.The encounter took place in the wee hours during a joint operation by police and CRPF's Cobra battalion.Police further claimed top havre captured one 9 mm Browning pistol, one 36 HE (high explosive) grenades, one magazine, five live rounds and four fired rounds.
