Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar joined the nationwide Mission Sambhav on Monday to ensure total cleanliness. GUWAHATI: Cutting across the barriers of their political ideologies, the legislators have strongly felt the need of a new set of laws to firmly deal with the incidents of sexual misconduct. GUWAHATI: The gangrape and murder incident in Batadrawa has triggered no less uproar on the floor of the Assam Assembly on Monday where the main Opposition Congress staged walk out. GUWAHATI: Properties worth two crore were reduced to ashes when a devastating fire ravaged four buildings in the heart of the Guwahati city on Monday. The incident took place at D Neog Path in ABC area in the wee hours where one of the buildings caught fire because of electric short circuit which later spread to the three adjacent buildings after a few LPG cylinders exploded under the impact of the fire. Six firefighter took nearly three to four hours to bring the situation under fire. The total extent of damage has yet to be ascertained.
BIJOY K BURAGOHAINJORHAT: Hundreds of people hit the streets in Golaghat demanding Justice for the minor girl in Dhing whom three miscreants gangraped and burnt alive on Friday afternoon. Kokrajhar, Mar 25: An unidentified  body  strikes no less sensation in Kokrajhar after it was recovered at Chakrashila forest area in Choraikola in on Sunday.According to police, local residents spotted the decomposed hanging on a tree and informed it to the police in the morning. The body yet to identified and recovered on hanged.According to police, the body was noticed yesterday along the Chakrashila forest area by local public and intimated to the police. JAGIROAD: Yet another suspected incident of rape and murder triggers no less shock and sensation across thr state on Saturday. A woman who worked with a brick kiln in Jagiroad was found dead inside the house of her co worker who was believed to have raped her before being killed. Acting on a complaint the Jagiroad police have raided the house of Sadek Ali where the body was recovered. Police men probing the case have been interrogating Ali who is suspected to have committed the double crime on the day of the Batadrawa incident where three miscreants gangraped a minor girl insider her house before  burning her alive who later succumbed to her injuries on the way to Guwahati.
