Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

GUWAHATI: A suspected illegal Bangladeshi settler sprung no less surprise in the Gauhati High Court as he claimed to have found his name in the NRC draft forcing the court to ask for response from the government and NRC authorities. GUWAHATI: The Maharashtra police is preparing to bring Bhubneswar after their cunterparts in Assam arrested the police constable in Haflong in connection with the infamous call data record scam.   Das, whom the police arrested a couple of days back acting on the allegations by the police in Thane would be brought to Maharashtra for interrogation. According to police, a police team in Thane probing the CDR racket traced the mobile number owned by Das who managed to procure the CDR from the cyber cell where he was attahed to. GUWAHATI: Assam Congress leaders and workers staged a two hour long dharna in protest in Guwahati on Monday against the amended SCST laws alleging the Centre’s failure to properly implement it. GUWAHATI: The Assam police team probing the coal scam has arrested three enforcement officers of the transport department in Guwahati on Saturday. According to information, Madhab Neog, Chittranjan Nath and Mrigen Sarma were picked up on Saturday morning to be arrested after marathon interrogation. The trio allegedly helped the coal traders run smuggling of black diamond for cash. More officers and coal traders are likely to be arrested soon. Details awaited.
GUWAHATI: KMSS is dead opposed to any public hearing on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Delhi by the Joint Parlaimentary Committee and holds the BJP-led governments in state and Centre responsible for it.
