Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Hiranya Bora and Diganta Kalita have already put in their papers.These Congress leaders received showcause notices for criticising the party president and indulging in alleged anti-party activities. 
The Asom Gana Parishad is gearing up to hold its executive meeting in Kaliabor later this month.Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Thursday, party president Atul Bora said the meeting is scheduled to take place on July 26 and 27.The meeting is expected to formulate strategies for the assembly polls early next year.

An undeclared race of rash driving is to be blamed for Thursday accident at Paltanbazar where five people sustained serious injury.Eyewitness told Assam Times that the city bus which was coming from Panbazar side was trying to overtake two other buses along with many two and three wheelers on the AT Road.“Had the bus tried to control its speed the incident would have taken place where more than 10 people sustained injury,” said one of the eyewitness.    A college student is battling for life at the GMCH after he sustained injury in the accident. “The speeding bus rammed into the two wheeler on which the student was sitting,” said another eyewitness.    ...
At least ten people sustained injury when a city bus rammed into an auto rickshaw along with a two wheeler in Guwahati on Thursday. The tragic accident took place at around 11 in the morning at the busy Paltanbazar area when a Ganeshguri bound city bus rammed into a two wheeler after the driver lost his control over it. A college student who was sitting on the stranded two wheeler received serious injury to be rushed to the GMCH where he is battling for life.Then it again rammed into an auto rickshaw before halting beside the Vishal Mega Mart. Akhil Gogoi has yet to surfaced as the authorities issued non bailable warrant against the KMSS leader who accused police of raping and killing a women from Meghalaya inside the Dispur police station.Policemen from Dispur have been looking for the KMSS  leader for the last 48 hours in connection with a case registered against him. When conducted a search operation at his residence in Candmari, he was not found available on Tuesday and Wednesday.Notably, he alleged that policemen raped and killed the Meghalaya women inside the police station during the detention period triggering sensation across Assam and Meghalaya.
