Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

The Congress legislative body has cancelled it meeting slated for September 2. The decision was taken when a section of cabinet ministers and MLAs met chief minister Tarun Gogoi at his official residence in Koindhara on Saturday evening.Earlier, the party legislators decided to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the post-Himanta exit situation on August 29 to be rescheduled to September 2. Security forces arrested a hardcore NSCN-K militant in Tinsukia district on Saturday. A minor boy met watery grave at a steam in Guwahati on Saturday. The tragic incident took place near Khanapara when the eight year old boy was swimming along with his friends near the Trinayan Path. Suddenly, strong water current washed away the boy and the body was found later.
A local court in Barpeta remanded two youths to three days police custody after they were produced in connection with the Howly gangrape case early this week.  The youths were identified as Moklesur Rahman and Nijamuddin who along with two others gangraped a 12 year old girl at a room near the Barpeta Medical College Hospital.  Howly police registered a case against the duo (No 534/15 U/S 366(A)/376/420/34) and R/W Sec  4 of POCSO (Protection of Child & Sexual Offence) after being caught on Saturday wee hours. The main accused Jahangir  Ali and one of his associates are still absconding.

The mystery over the Guwahati model murder is nearing an end when police arrested two persons on Friday.Police have extracted startling revelations from the main Neel Nibaron Lahkar who confessed to have strangulated Sweety Baruah on Tuesday wee hours.Neel was understood to have been aided by his brother Nayanjyoti Lahkar who was also arrested in this connection. 
Assam Rifles claimed to have killed 7 NSCN(K) militants at an encounter in Nagaland on Friday. According to army, the encounter took place at 2 in the afternoon at Pangsha in Tuensang district where three civilians sustained injury. Details are awaited. 
Guwahati police claimed to have got a vital breakthrough into the Sweeti Baruah murder case after they caught a person in the outskirt of Guwahati city on Friday.He was identified Neel Nibaron Lahkar who was caught by the crime branch near Hajo.
