Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.

The illegal migrants of Bangladesh irrespective of religion should be sent back to their country. There is no place for Hindu Bangladeshi or Muslim Bangladeshi in Assam.

The Kokrajhar district administration steps up measures to ensure safety and security to the people after the carnage of Adivasi peoples by NDFB (Songbijit). There is no report of any fresh incident during the last 12 hours. Lower Assam Commissioner Shantanu Thakur visited Kokrajhar on Friday and met senior police and civil officials to review the situation. He said that 50 companies of security forces were deployed in the districts and that of them 18 companies have already reached Kokrajhar. According to him, measures are on to restore peace and normalcy in Udalguri, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.  
Caught in a gory cycle of violence, around 10,570 panic stricken people in Kokrajhar district have been taking shelter in 24 relief camps.   Gossaigaon sub division has alone 15 camps teeming with Bodos and Adivasi people while Kokrajhar has 9 other relief camps for the refugees. Meanwhile, altogether 15 additional companies of security forces have reached the trouble torn district where 33 people have lost their lives in the on going cycle of violence.  
Hundreds of people both from Adivasi and Bodo community have been taking shelter at SSB camps at Saralapara and Ultapani a day after NDFB-S militants unleashed violence in the area killing 25 people on Tuesday evening. The All Assam Adivasi Students Union on Wednesday blocked the railway in Gossaigaon in protest against the NDFB-S carnage in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur on Tuesday.Hundreds of Adivasi people squatted on the railway tracks and prevented the movement of several trains through Gossaigaon. The blockade ended after nearly four hours disrupting the train service.  Similarly, the All Bodo Students Union also took out protest rally in Kokrajhar against the massacre and demanded safety and security of the people.

At least 4 people were believed to have been killed in yet another dreaded attack by NDFB-S militants in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday minutes after the Serfung guri firing.The incident took place in Ultapani area bordering Bhutan where the militants shot dead four persons at a tiny hamlet. Kokrajhar police have denied triple explosions in the BTAD district on Monday. Talking to reporters on Tuesday, SP Sunil Kumar confirmed only the Patgaon explosions where three persons sustained injury.  According to him, security forces recovered two grenades in Gossaigaon sub-division hours after the Patgaon incident in the evening.
