Who is BJP's CM candidate: Gaurav

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s entry into BJP will put the people in utter confusion over the chief ministerial candidate.

Hours after Dr Sarma unofficially joined BJP, Gogoi said that if Sarma is made the chief ministerial candidate then what is in store for Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddharth Bhattacharya.

Talking to reports Gogoi  wondered why and how Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP a day after he was proud of his party’s victory in the Tiwa autonomous council polls.

AIUDF president on Saturday claimed that the Opposition consensus candidate in the Rajya Sabha poll Haidor Hussain is likely to get vote even from a section of Congress legislators.Addressing a joint press conference with Hussain in Guwahati Ajmal said that he was in touch with a circle of Congress legislators for vote in favour of Hussain.He said that horse trading won’t benefit Congress and BPF in the polls. “I am confident that Hussain would be able to win the poll with flying colours,” said Ajmal.
Opposition consensus candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls Haidor Hussain accused Congress of trying to kidnap a section of opposition legislators to ensure win in the polls slated for February 7.Addressing a joint press conference with AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal on Saturday in Guwahati, the veteran journalist said that horse trading is unlikely to help the party. Delhi police on Saturday claimed to have caught two youths in connection with the Lajpotnagar incident where goons thrashed an Arunachal Pradesh student to death on Thursday.Sources told Assam Times that Lajpotnagar police have arrested two accused namely Farhan and Akhtar—local youths who were running a paneer shop in the area. Investigation is in progress.
Once again an incident of gangrape seems to have touches off seismic waves of shocks and anger in the state. The victim this time is a 16 year old girl in the heart of the Nagaon town.The girl was rescued in a deserted road in the town three days after she went missing from a social welfare department owned house in Jail Road.The girl is believed to have been repeatedly gangraed by 7 goons for the last three days at a house and was dumped on Friday night. Her medical treatment is underway. Police officials probing the case are understood to have found the lead. Details are awaited.
Poachers have struck again in Kaziranga. A full grown rhino was killed in the national park on Saturday.The carcass was found at the Agaratoli range of the national park where the poachers took away the horn. Forest guards rushed to the site after they came to hear the sound of firing in the place.   
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi dared Arvind Kejriwal to move the investigating agencies with allegations corruption against him  hours after the Delhi Chief Minister called him one of the most corrupt political leaders in the country.  Taking to reporters in the sidelines of a function in Dibrugarh on Friday, Gogoi said that if the AAP leader has any evidence then why he has yet to move the investigating agencies for probe? “Let him probe the allegations of corruption against me. Why has not he did it? These are political gimmick and nothing else,” said the chief minister.Kejriwal on Friday called Gogoi one of the most corrupt political leaders in the country.
The indefinite economic blockade in Sonitpur and Dhemaji districts seems to have land Arunachal Pradesh in huge trouble.The neighbouring state seems to have been heading for yet period of crippling crisis in the absence of essential commodities.The state has received hardly anything for the last three days because of the blockade as hundreds of trucks carrying essential commodities have been remaining stranded in different places.According to sources, the stock of essential commodities is likely to end soon if this blockade is allowed to continue in Sonitpur district in protest against the killing of ten villagers in Chauldhua forest.         
Guwahati police have arrested an imposter in Punjab in connection with a case where a coal businessman was duped a few months back.Identified as Munish Garg, he was arrested in Jalandhar on Thursday night charging him with taking Rs 2 crore from a businessman in the Beltola areas in the city.Sources told Assam Times that the accused would be produced in a local court in Jalandhar for transit remand before being flown to Guwahati on Saturday.
