Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s entry into BJP will put the people in utter confusion over the chief ministerial candidate.
Hours after Dr Sarma unofficially joined BJP, Gogoi said that if Sarma is made the chief ministerial candidate then what is in store for Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddharth Bhattacharya.
Talking to reports Gogoi wondered why and how Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP a day after he was proud of his party’s victory in the Tiwa autonomous council polls.

At least thirteen talents have fetched huge pride for Assam when they cracked the civil service examination, 2016 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission which announced the results on Wednesday. Swapnil Khare ranks 43 while Dibakar Nath has been ranked in 254th position. Kapinjal Kumar Sarma bags 507 position while Seuj Kumar Saikia gets 677th position followed by Dipankar Gogoi who is ranked in 816th. Tapan Deka has been ranked in 859 along with Dipjoy Das in the same position. Two women met watery grave in Lakhimpur when the boat ferrying a few people capsized on the middle of a river on Wednesday. The incident took place on the river Bogolijan which started swelling from Tuesday after NEEPCO released a huge volume of waters from its Ranganadi dam. As the boat reached the middle of the river, the boat suddenly capsized under the impact of the strong current forcing many local residents to come to the rescue of the passengers. SDRF jawans and local residents tried their best to rescue them. But they failed to save Pallavi Saikia and Munmi Saikia who met watery grave sending shock in the entire area.

A pall of gloom grips Meghalaya when nine people died during the last 24 hours since they ate rice packed with pork and chicken served at a church function in Ri Bhoi district on Sunday. More than 250 others have been receiving treatment in the various hospitals in Ri Bhoi and Shillong. A suicide incident in Sonitpur district seems to have put a BJP MLA in dire trouble very soon. The incident took place on Tuesday morning when BJP worker Nomal Saikia was alleged to have committed suicide at his home in Bihpuria. A suicide note recovered beside the body blamed the local MLA along with s senior woman worker of the party for his extreme step. Local residents told Assam Times that during the last couple of years, Saikia was seen depressed who till the other days was working heart and soul for the ruling party.
