Why Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is in a haste to join BJP? Political observers are straight in their comments. He is believed to have unofficially joined BJP in the face of two huge scams that put him in dire straights.
Very recently, BJP parliamentary board called him the key suspect in the Louis Berger scam only a month back. A CID enquiry is in progress which will unearth the real story.
The Central Bureau of Investigation probing the chit fund scam has already grilled Dr Sarma on the basis of the purported letter by Saradha chiefSudipto Sen. CBI has yet to file the charge-sheet.

Now that he joined bjp to save himself for all the scams it will be all the more difficult to prove. He is an opportunist and that's what we don't like. It was bjp who was most vocal about his corruption. Why have they accepted him now? Shouldn't Assam produce more leaders? He already has enough: TV channel, newspaper, guest house, stashed cash and what not. We need honest leaders not tainted. You are spreading the propaganda. Bada aya.
AASU and Asom Sahitya Sabha have vowed to jointly fight for restoration of Assamese as the official language in the state.The resolution got its final shape when the student leaders held a crucial meeting in Guwahati with the state’s largest literary organization on Monday.Assam Accord also figured in the meeting where Sahitya Sabha, further, assured the AASU leadership of help to intensify the agitation for speedy implementation of the historic Accord.

Violence seems to have marred the 24 hour bandh called by several organizations in protest against the recent Ramphalbeel incident.Bandh supporters in Rangiya set on fire a Maruti 800 carrying school goers on Monday morning. The driver was beaten up by the supporters. Local residents rescued the school children from the vehicle.

Thousands of people hit the streets in BTAD areas on Monday in protest against the orgy of violence carried out by NDFB-S that killed 8 people within 24 hours. Amrit Cement has tendered unconditional apology in the face of mounting protest of its recent diktat over the Assamese language in its official functionings.In a statement, the cement company regretted the earlier notification which oozed protest across the state.
The Asom Sahitya Sabha officials came out to the streets on Sunday in protest against the non implementation of the Assam Language Act----making it mandatory for the government to use Assamese language in the official functionings.The protesters removed some English and Hindi hoardings and banners on the streets. A section of Sahitya Sabha officials blackened the hoardings and banners.A section of the Sabha officials told assamtimes that they would intensify the agitation in the run up to the special session in the city. The protest in this form assumes significance a few days after a cement factory instructed its workers and employees to avoid Assamese language inside the factory campus.
