Why Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is in a haste to join BJP? Political observers are straight in their comments. He is believed to have unofficially joined BJP in the face of two huge scams that put him in dire straights.
Very recently, BJP parliamentary board called him the key suspect in the Louis Berger scam only a month back. A CID enquiry is in progress which will unearth the real story.
The Central Bureau of Investigation probing the chit fund scam has already grilled Dr Sarma on the basis of the purported letter by Saradha chiefSudipto Sen. CBI has yet to file the charge-sheet.

Now that he joined bjp to save himself for all the scams it will be all the more difficult to prove. He is an opportunist and that's what we don't like. It was bjp who was most vocal about his corruption. Why have they accepted him now? Shouldn't Assam produce more leaders? He already has enough: TV channel, newspaper, guest house, stashed cash and what not. We need honest leaders not tainted. You are spreading the propaganda. Bada aya.

A gory incident that left 7 people in Goalpara district bordering Meghalaya has forced the authority to clamp night curfew on Monday. Army and police are on patrolling duty at Gendamari area where suspected GNLA militants shot dead seven persons at a dewali function on Sunday night.The night curfew is in force from 7 in the evening to 6 in the morning. National Highway 62 between Damra in Assam and Dalu in Meghalaya as well as NH 51 between Paikan and Dalu along with Khargang-Resubelpara road are not under the purview of the curfew.
Two more youths were found dead at Jorabat in the outskirt of Guwahati on Monday. The semi-naked bodies were recovered from a culvert in the morning. Both the bodies bore some injury marks in the heads. Police investigation are going on.

Tension prevails in Chirang a day after unidentified miscreants kidnapped 4 persons of a family at gunpoint. The incident took place at North Khaitema village on Saturday wee hours when gunmen took away Tarun Basumatary, his wife and two sons at gunpoint. The Assam government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the recent incident in Azara where two women from Kokrajhar were found dead. The duo were believed to have died under mysteriour circumstances and the bodies were recovered beside the railway track at Jogipara in the outskirt of Guwahati. The brief silence is over. BTAD areas seem to have erupted in violence forcing the authority to clamp curfew on Thursday. Violence took its worse turn during the 24 hour lower Assam bandh on Wednesday demanding exclusion of Non Boro areas from BTAD. A string of group clashes marred the bandh call leaving two dead and several others injured. The clashes broke out in Baska when a group of people forced some shops to open. These have forced the administration to step up security in the entire Baska district.
