The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

Ajmal hits back at Majarbhuyan

Stunned by the sensational allegation of deal with Congress vice president in the time of Rajya Sabha polls, AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal threatens legal action against his party legislator Ataur Rahmanmajhar Bhuyan.Talking to reporters in Dispur on Monday night, Ajmal said that the allegations of bribery deal with Rahul Gandhi is completely baseless and that he was not a bagger to have struck such deal.He said he would be served showcause notice to substantiate his allegations. The clarification came several hours after Majharbhuyan disclosed that Ajmal received money in cash from Rahul Gandhi through Mizoram Chief Minister.

Akhil waging war

KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said that they won’t spare Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Prafulla Kr Mahanta, Sarbananda Sonowal, Badaruddin Ajmal for resorting to horse trading in the recent Rajya Sabha polls.Addressing a huge gathering in Sivasagar on Monday, Gogoi threatened to launch an massive agitation against this nefarious practice.He said that these political leaders have been deceiving the people fir years and that they won’t be allowed to continue this practice where the common people have been bearing the brunt.

Sonowal grills MLAs

State BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday grilled his party legislators to find out the real one who did not toe on the party line in the recent Rajya Sabha polls.Sonowal took statements from all the five MLAs who claimed to have voted for Opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain.Barring Prasanta Phukan, other Manoranjan Das, Dilip Moran and Jadav Deka and Ranjit Dutta are believed to have apprised Sonowal that they did produce their ballots before the party agent after casting their votes.But Phukan did not produce it citing absence of his party agent as he was casting his votes. Majarbhuyan vs Ajmal

The master mind of the defeat of the Opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain was none but Badaruddin Ajmal. The AIUDF president had a huge deal with Rahul Gandhi to ensure victory of the ruling party candidates.These are more or less of what Ataur Rahman Majarbhuyan told reporters when he was addressing a press conference in Silchar on Monday.The expelled AIUDF leader disclosed that Ajmal received money in cash from Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla at the Mizoram Bhawan in New Delhi. According to Majarbhuyan, after landing at the airport, Ajmal came to the residence on his personal car leaving his security guards.

Bora acquitted in Topno case

It’s a huge breather for Ripun Bora. The Kamrup district session court on Monday acquitted the former education minister in the sensational Danila Topnno murder case.In its final hearing the lower court in Guwahati announced that there is no evidence to implicate the senior Congress leader.Notably, Bora was dropped as the education minister in 2007 after CBI nabbed him on bribery allegation in connection with the murder case.He was further suspended from the party and was not fielded in the 2011 Assembly polls. The ruling party, however, fielded his wife Manika Bora who won the polls.    

KMSS dharna in Sivasagar

Thousands of KMSS activists hit the streets in Sivasagar on Monday alleging horse trading in the recent Rajya Sabha polls.Led by its president Akhil Gogoi, the protestors staged dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office alleging rampant corruption by the Congress government.He said that the corrupt must not be spared and that the peasants must be taken care of. This was followed by a huge public rally in the outskirt of the town where he appealed to the people stand united against all forms of corruption.      

Gogoi hits back at Modi

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday claimed to have done more than Narendra Modi two days after his Gujarat counterpart took on him at a huge rally in Guwahati.Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Gogoi said that Gujarat is lagging behind Assam on many fronts. Showing central government report of development, Gogoi claimed that Modi has no rights to take on him in terms of development.

Stormy note in Assembly

Majarbhuyan blames Ajmal

Caught in a barrage of criticism over his absence from the Rajya Sabha polls, AIUDF legislator Ataur Rahman Majarbhuyan blames it all on the party president Badaruddin Ajmal Seth for it.Talking to reporters immediately after landing at the Silchar Airport on Sunday, he said that it was Ajmal who forced him to shy away from the exercise.According to him, Ajmal assured him of initiatives to manage any situation in his absence. He said it was ready to face any action from the party leadership.

Budget session begins

Assam Assembly begins its budget session on Monday. The five day long session begins at 9 in the morning with Governor JB Patnaik’s address.Then chief minister Tarun Gogoi, who holds the finance portfolio will table the vote on account for four months in lieu  of a full fledged budget in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.The government will be able to run the proceedings smoothly because of the disunity among the Opposition parties in the wake of the Rajya Sabha polls.
