In a big development in the state’s political arena, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP.

The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Debangana Kalita three months after the police arrested the JNU researcher alleging involvement in the orgy of violence in the north eastern parts of the national capital. A bench of the court of Justice SK Kite, which heard the petition was not convinced by the evidence produced by Delhi police before the court justifying her arrest. Guwahati: Breaking his silence over the alliance with Congress to beat BJP in 2021 assembly polls, AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal denied any ambition for the Chief Minister’s job. Talking to a vernacular daily, Ajmal said that he has little hurdle to become Chief Minister but in the same breath he said that they have not formed the party to become CM.
