The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

AIAZWL: Thousands of people from Assam feel it quite unsafe to stay in Mizoram following Saturday's border skirmish where 3 people from the state sustained in an incident of attack by miscreants at Lilapur. Escalating tension along Assam-Mizoram border

Silchar: Tension is escalating along the Assam-Mizoram border after a group of miscreants from the neighbouring north eastern state pounded on a section of people in the territory of Assam.  The incident took place suddenly at Lailapur area in Cachar district when a group of Mizo miscreants started indiscriminate firing in the area terrorizing the people of Assam.  Then some of the miscreants started setting afire as many as ten big and small business establishments owned by the people of Assam.  A team of Assam Police and central para military force arrived in the spot and disposed the miscreants and it took several hours for the Mizoram police to reach the spot....

Guwahati: A police team has arrested a local BJP leader in Guwahati after it registered a suo motto case alleging a scam in the recruitment of employees in the panchayat and rural development department. On the basis of some preliminary evidence, the police team probing the scam held Rajib Parashar from a Dhaba after conducting a raid at his residence in Sixth Mile area in the city. Guwahati: After a brainstorming session in Guwahati on Thursday Congress, CPI, CPM have agreed to fight unitedly to keep BJP at bay in the 2021 assembly polls. The leaders of all the three parties to hit the streets alleging corruption, utter lawlessness across the state. Convened at the hotel Gateway Grandeur, the meeting further discussed the preparation of a common minimum programme to sort out the issues. Congress opposes Madrassa closure move

Guwahati: The BJP-led government's move to close down around 1200 Madrassas hits a major hurdle with Congress vehemently opposing it. State Congress president Ripun Bora said that the party/s position was very clear and that they will keep opposing the move. Bora further called the decision unconstitutional and that the government cant take such a decision in a secular country. Notably, education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the government owned Madrassas would be closed down from November.

Raijor Dol starts campaign in Dhemaji

Raijor dol, the new political initiation lead by KMSS in support of seventy different indigenous organizations of Assam has a big motorbike rally in Dhemaji on Tuesday. The rally was organised to protest against the illegal imprisonment of their leader Akhil Gogoi which about to complete 300 days in jail.
