Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.

Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.

He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.

The driver Hari Das was released.   

Kokrajhar teacher kidnapped

 Sensation prevails in Kokrajhar district after unidentified militants kidnapped a school teacher at gunpoint on Tuesday.According to information, the incident took place at Dingdinga where Hatidura College Principal Lalan Prakash Sonar was kidnapped by miscreants in the evening.Gossaigaon police have registered a case and search operation is going on.

Flood woes back to Sonitpur

 Over 10,000 people have been rendered homeless when flood waters submerged at least 25 villages in Sonitpur district. Flood waters refused to recede on Wednesday to bring misery to more people in the district. The Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flowing above the danger level following the incessant rains that lashed the catchment areas of Arunachal Pradesh during the last couple of days. A major explosion was averted in Kokrajhar when security police defused a powerful hand grenade on Tuesday. The hand grenade was found in an abandoned bag at Serfanguri Bazar in Kokrajhar district in the evening. Investigation is in progress. ////////////////////////

Construction engineer kidnapped

 Days of uneasy situations are back to Dima Hasao district. Unidentified miscreants kidnapped a construction project manager at gunpoint on Tuesday. Identified as Niron Kumar Mahajan , the top official of the Kolkata-based construction company was abducted near Hathikhuli under Langting police station in the morning. The construction company was engaged in widening of a four-lane project between Hatikhuli and Mandadisa. Security forces are on a combing operation to rescue the 48 year officer.

4 held on extortion charge

 Tinsukia police arrested four persons for allegedly extorting money from tea garden authorities in the name of ULFA on Tuesday. The fake ULFA militants were nabbed from Dholla in Tinsukia when they arrived in the tea garden office to extort money. Police officials were waiting on their way to the tea garden office acting on the prior information on Tuesday. Interrogation is going on. /

Gogoi seeks new oil royalty mechanism

  Chief minister Tarun Gogoi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s seeking his intervention to direct the oil PSUs to change the royalty payment mechanism. Sources told Assam Times that the chief minister urged Modi to ask the petroleum ministry to give appropriate instructions to ONGC and OIL to pay royalty, VAT and other state taxes to Assam. He further demanded royalty at pre-discounted price of crude oil with effect from February 1 2014 as ordered by Supreme Court in case of Gujarat. Gogoi has pointed out that ONGC and OIL are liable to pay royalty on crude oil at 20% of the well-head price, in addition to VAT at 5% and other state taxes.

Assam stresses skill development

 Dispur is understood to gave sought the Centre's technical support to set up skill development training centres to help the youth to increase their employability quotient and find jobs outside the state. This was what the Industries and Commerce Minister Pradyut Bordoloi wrote to Union Skill Development and Youth Affairs Minister Sarbananda Sonowal seeking help from the Centre's National Skill Development Corporation to set up such training centres in every development block in the state.
