Amit Shah on visit to Guwahati

BJP president is on stock taking visit to Guwahati nine months ahead of the assembly polls.

Immediately after landing at the Borjhar airport, he along with 10 other top leaders straightly arrived at the Machkhowa ITA to address the convention of the party’s north eastern leaders.

Later in the day he would met the state leadership to take stock of the state’s pre poll political landscape.   

He is scheduled to leave the city in the evening.

Wrong News. After landing at Borjhar LGBI Airport, he went to Hotel Rituraj where he conducted a personal meeting for more than one hour and then around 12:10 proceeded to ITA Machkhowa from where he left for Delhi.

AICC screening committee is set to finalise the list of Lok Sabha poll candidates in a day or two. The final list is being finalized by committee chairman and Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in presence of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita.The prepared list would be handed over to Sonia Gandhi for seal of approval in a day or two. The list would contain the candidates for 12 seats. The party won’t field any candidate in Kokrajhar. Panel of candidates for Guwahati would be prepared later.

At least ten people were killed and over 20 have been injured in indiscriminate firing by miscreants along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.The incident took place at Chauldhua area in the afternoon when miscreants from the neighboring state started indiscriminate firing on a camp of a group of local residents to prevent aggression by a section of Arunachalese.    The firing continued for several hours and security forces rushed to the spot only in the evening. BPF candidate Biswajeet Daimary claimed that he would win along with two other Congress candidates in the Rajya Sabha polls in February 7.Talking to reporters in the Assam Assembly secretariat on Wednesday, he said that he had faith on Congress legislators along with a few opposition party MLAs.

AICC screening committee meets on Wednesday in New Delhi to prepare the list of the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.The meeting is scheduled to be chaired by Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shindhe, who was appointed as the chairman of the AICC screening body for Assam in presence of APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.APCC poll committee on Monday prepared the panels of candidates for 12 seats.
