Amit Shah on visit to Guwahati

BJP president is on stock taking visit to Guwahati nine months ahead of the assembly polls.

Immediately after landing at the Borjhar airport, he along with 10 other top leaders straightly arrived at the Machkhowa ITA to address the convention of the party’s north eastern leaders.

Later in the day he would met the state leadership to take stock of the state’s pre poll political landscape.   

He is scheduled to leave the city in the evening.

Wrong News. After landing at Borjhar LGBI Airport, he went to Hotel Rituraj where he conducted a personal meeting for more than one hour and then around 12:10 proceeded to ITA Machkhowa from where he left for Delhi.

In yet another revelations on the recent Rajyya Sabha polls, Union minister Ranee Narah accused BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal of accepting a huge amount of bribe from Congress.Narah said on Thursday in Philobari that the her probable nearest rival in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Lakhimpur, received Rs 4 crore from DoNER minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar giving the party a new jolt.She further said that Ghatowar also accepted Rs 1.50 crore from Ghatowar for the same purpose four months ago.An angry Ghatowar, however, denied the disclosure and threatened to take legal action against Narah.  
Security forces claimed to have killed two more NDFB-S militants at an encounter in Chirang district on Thursday.The encounter between NDFB-S and security forces took place at Phulbari along the Indo-Bhutan border where both the militants were killed on the spot.Later they were identified as Bipul Narzary and Punkha Basumatary. Police further claimed to have recovered pistol, magazine, hand grenade along with extortion notes from their possession.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has agreed to talk to the state government employees to break the deadlock over their arrear amounts.Sources told Assam Times that Gogoi has invited the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad for talks on February 19.With this assurance, the employees union has called off the agitation. But they made it clear that if the talks fail to end the impasse, they would have no option but to resume the strike.  The employees union has been demanding arrear for 33 months. But the chief minister initially was not interested in disbursing the arrears citing poor financial health.  
A three member BJP panel set up to probe the voting anomalies in the Rajya Sabha polls quizzed party legislator Prasanta Phukan to unearth the truth.  Led by former legislator Mison Ranjan Das, the panel quizzed the legislature party leader at the Assembly chamber for around three hours on Thursday.The panel members asked Phukan what forced him to insert the ballot paper into the box without getting it checked by the concerned agent on duty in the Rajya Sabha polls last week.The party leadership consider it a violation of party whip issued a few days before the polls.
