Chief minister Tarun Gogoi failed to deliver the goods even after he got a good opportunity. This was more or less of what a section of the grassroot level people told Assam Times on the fourth anniversary day of his third term on Monday.
"We hoped a lot when he took over a chief minister 14 years back. But his performamce is not upto the mark," Bibi Saikia told Assam Times in Jorhat.
Sushen Gupta in Golaghat said,"only publicity keeping this government alive. It announces schemes for the poor people. But never these percolate benefit for the beneficiaries. Gogoi has hardly any time to oversee the implementations."
According to Achyut Saikia from Nagaon, the common people gets hardly 10 per cent benefit of the Gogoi government schemes. The major beneficiaries are a section of the government officials, contractors and middlemen.
Retired school teacher from Dhemaji Sarat Pegu told Assam Times that this term is known for scams. "Not even a single department exists without any allegation of anomaly and scam. But Gogoi and his ministes are remaing mute. What forces them to remain so silent," he said.
