NRC update

The ongoing National Register of Citizens (NRC) update process in Chirang district has made good progress as per scheduled programme. The district administration has already issued Legacy Datas and distributed NRC Application forms to almost all the citizens,though  some of the citizens urged for English and Bodo application forms.The district administration has sent proposal to the  RGI, Govt of India for approval this, which is likely to be received soon. It has also started receiving application forms back and Data entry works at the designated NRC Seva Kendras. As such, with a view to helping to the public in filling up  the application forms and generating awareness on the process, the Local Registrars of Citizen Registration (LRCR) and Block Level Officers (BLO) were asked to visit field areas  frequently by the d5istrict administration. Meanwhile, the Chirang DC Rupak Kr. Mazumdar held a review meeting on progress of NRC updation in the district on Friday with the Circle Registrars of Citizen Registration (CRCR), Assistant Circle Registrars of Citizen Registration (ACRCR) and Local Registrars of Citizen Registration (LRCR) in the conference hall of the DC Office. In the meeting, he took stock of the status of distribution of application forms, receive of application forms, issue of Legacy Datas, organising Community Level Meetings, interest of public in NRC updation, problems faced at field level, available technical and manpower positions at NRC Seva Kendras. He has asked the officers to put maximum efforts for making the process of NRC updating a success in the district. The meeting was also attended by ADC Dasarat Das, District Resourse Person for NRC Manashjyoti Baruah, Sidli CO Karmadev Brahma and Bijni CO Roseleen Das.

It has been informed that the district administration has so far distributed 1,47,804 application forms against the 1,7,664 house holds in the district and received completed application forms more than 1000 applications till today.
