The overall flood scene turns more grim with more areas coming under the surging waters on Wednesday. The Brahmaputra and its tributaries have been flowing above the danger level following the incessant rains that lashed the north eastern states for the last couple of days.
Water level in the worst effected Lakhimpur district is still surging displacing at least ten lakh people in over 300 villages forcing the authorities to step up relief and rescue operations. Same it is in eleven other district where there is hardly any let up in the situation.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has asked the flood affected district authorities to expedite relief and rescue operation. Senior water resources development, food and civil supplies and health officials have been apprising Gogoi of the flood situation along with the relief and rescue operations.
