Power tariff will hike which generates statewide protest on Saturday a day after the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission approved it.The hike to be enforced from December 1 is an average 13.1 per cent. According to the AERC, the increase in the tariff for different consumer categories ranges from around 7 per cent to 18 per cent. The consumers have been paying a fuel and power purchase price adjustment (FPPPA) charge of Rs 0.36 from July.The domestic consumers will have to pay an additional amount at the rate of Rs 0.31 to Rs 0.74 per unit, depending on the rate of consumption. The Central Bureau of Investigation steps up the probe into the Saradha scam where a circle of powerful political leaders is involved.The country’s premier investigation agency probing the scam is all set to quiz former minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Anjan Dutta.The duo received summons from to appear before the SIT on November 24 at its Salt Lake based office. Dispur on Friday came all out against New Delhi alleging lack of interest to give the road sector a fresh lease of life. Addressing a press conference in Dispur, PWD minister Ajanta Neog alleged that the Centre has not sanctioned the projects even after Dispur proposed before it a couple of months back.Neog further announced an ambition concrete road project across the state with Rs 194.60 crore.
