Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that he would not field himself in the election till CBI exonerates him from Saradha scam. Minutes after CBI’s 8 hour long interrogation at the CGO Complex in Kolkata, the former minister said that he would request his party leadership not to field him in the polls till his innocence is not proved. According to him, there is political conspiracy against him and that CBI has summoned no powerful persons to be interrogated in this connection.

The Central Bureau of Investigation grilled Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in Kolkata for nearly six hours in connection with Saradha scam on Wednesday. Led by a DIG, a special unit of the country’s premier investigation agency interrogated the former minister from 10 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon at CGO complex in Kolkata. Three persons died and fifteen others sustained serious injury at tragic road mishap in Sivasagar district on Wednesday.The mishap took place at Phulpanichiga near Jhani on the National Highway No 37 early in the mornig when a vehicle carrying a wedding party slipped into the roadside field after it hit a tree when the driver lost his control over it.Local residents who came to the rescue in the wee hours blamed dense fogs for poor visibility. The injured are battling for life in the Sivasagar Civil Hospital. A few others has been shifted to the Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh.
