CBI’s special investigation team set up to probe Saradha scam grilled Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for several hours in Kolkata on Wednesday. Led by a DIG, the investigators questioned the former minister on his proximity with Sudipto Sen who in his purported letter alleged before CBI that the Congress legislator took money from him.
The SIT is further believed to have grilled him on his alleged role in the spread of Saradha network in the state apart from the chit fund business. Dr Sarma, who was Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s man Friday till the other day was introduced to Sen by Sadananda Gogoi whom CBI arrested two months back.
Gogoi further introduced Sen to the then DGP Shankar Baruah who committed suicide after his house was raided along with the residence and office of Dr Sarma and Anjan Dutta, AASU president Sankar Prasad Ray on August 28.
